Obviously not worth the hassle. I have lost total interest at this point, which is why this board is so valuable. Moving on back to my small niche of self-proclaimed expertise while IT is still there. Thanks everyone on the info.

Bill thanks for the search thread. Good info. I made notes.
Jay, your point is taken, the rod has a slow/progressive bend very similar to a solid glass blank. I am sure there are plenty of just as good or better rods for grouper/snapper jigging but this system is hot right now (called Shimano marketing). My charge from customer is to build on the Trevala blank (that he is having success with) bu

Can anyone give me info on the blanks shimano is using for their butterfly system jigging rods. Need to build with different components. All help greatly appreciated.

Makes sense I can understand. Will approach your way. Also since you brought it up, I asked customer about the single foot transition and gave him some options. He said to go with a longer wrap with the foot stem moved forward to cover the change. Is there any negative in doing it this way. Again I appreciate your advice.

Re-Wrapping a custom 9-foot 7wt 3-pc Bamboo. Customer wants strip guide and next guide to be Fuji BNLG12 and BNLG10 (no problem here) and the remaining (6) Fuji H&H snakes to be changed to Fuji BLG's with a BMLT top (problem here). I am not sure how to make the conversion. Is there a "chart or set up" for such as this. If this qualifies as a dumb question then ban me from future qu

I have floundered with words for years trying to say what Mr. Ruskin did 100 years ago. Blowing it up, hanging on wall, pointing when applicable, and copywright too bad. This is what I call a useful tool. Thanks

That was a most inclusive and well thought out post. Made a copy and stapled inside your catalog for future reference. Plan to build with your turbo's just as soon as a matching top is available which I understand should be soon. Much appreciated.

And furthermore
Are the Titans made here or if overseas, does the $$$ eventually come home, or does American just put their name on the guides as the exclusive domestic distributor while the same guides are distributed worldwide under different labels. Have run into this on rods before and just interested. More customers are trying to buy USA if at all possible. Personally I hope the trend hold

Most interesting and objective info, just what I needed. I have built stand-ups with LRSG's for several years and have never really felt that there was an equal. I never feel right about changing something that ain't broke but will give the Titans a try for a USA product if nothing else. Still would like to see a matching top. One thing I know is "titanium" is a power word when talking

Could someone explain to me in layman's (practical fishing) terms how the new American Titan Turbo Nanolite compares to Fuji 's SiC, other than cost. I did a search but comparisons I found were to Alconites. Much appreciated, Ron

I have heard that too but not seen them. These are labeled "All Star Graphite Pro-II #PT725S" complete with their official logo. I was told they originally sold @ 39.95 closeout @ 15.00. No indication of where made. Either way it appears to be a "bargain". Next the BigWalls will give you a free rod with a purchase of frozen bait. You can tell I am already tired of seeing

I missed something somewhere. The local WallStore is selling All Star Graphite popping rods for $15.00. The cork handles are decent, Fuji seats, and knock off guides. The inshore charter boats are buying them up and wanting a guide re-wrap of BLVLG or LVSG. Even if I play an attorney and double bill, they still should have a great value. What is the deal with All Star, the rods look totally le

This is rule of thumb "personal" but I will always build lockup on spin and lockdown on everything else unless there is reason to do otherwise such as mentioned above or customer preference. My theory being your hand should not have to grip reel seat threads when fishing the rod, especially metal seats in the winter. Disclaimer for fly rods, I do not enter that world. MHO again,

Got to give you the" shakey old man hand" method that is all that works for me. I sliver tape it on like Tom said but in the middle of the foot. Then take a scrap piece of thread (3-4" long) and just granny knot the foot tight to the blank just above the filed edge. Start your wrap to the knot and cut/remove it, wrap to the tape and remove it and the foot should not have move

Very much appreciate the comments. I like the idea of "one way or the other". When I have fished the butt roller and roller top it just felt more "comfortable/smooth" and it was like I was sold. Needed to hear the other side. Thanks, Ron

This is really a follow to former post on rollers or LRSG's . I have a tendancy which is really personal choice to steer customers to a HD roller butt guide and large head roller top with the interim LRSG's on stand-ups. They have the option then to maintain a few rollers or just change them out with little cost. Somebody once told me that was California Style but works well here on the 1st coast

I have enjoyed reading this post and already have some thoughts on doing some things different. Was not going to comment until Richard finally mentioned speed. I have always spent more time with the butt cap/gimbal, grips, and seat mount and assembly than anything else on the rod. My method often depends on the situation and varies. I think of it as cheap insurance. If something goes wrong "f

Al,
I use Calstar blanks T655H (40-80), T655XH (40-100), or T655XXH (50-120) for just the rod you are talking about. All are 5'6". Merrick or Mudhole on the sponsor list are Calstar distributors. So far feedback from customers has been good. And agree with everyone on the under and double over wrap. Good luck
