How much do you upsize your metal checks from the actual blank diameter?

Thanks Mike. I mostly have a mix of MHX and Batson RX7 which do me just fine. I ha

I apologize for being snarky last night. I had 6 dental implants put into my jaw yesterday and I was taking a lot of hydrocodone. I completely realize that HM's are more delicate, but I was hoping that someone might have an opinion on one vs. the others, or which HM's to avoid altogether. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Of course know high sticking must be avoided, but accidents do happen. I fish out of a kayak where things are less easily controlled. My typical rods are built on IM 7 blanks. They are generally light, sensitive, and tough enough, but I am thinking about building 1 or 2 HM rods for finesse bottom contact work. I know I must sound snarky in my reply, but I really am interested in the feedback I

Do any of the upper level blank brands ( Point Blank, ST Croix, Phenix, NSC, etc) have a unique construction that particulary helps them resist high stick damage more than others?

After I ream the seat and the grip, and glue the grip on, do I just push the seat up against the grip when I install it, or do I glue them together along the mating surfaces?

The FG knot is hands down the best braid to leader knot. I use it down to 8# FC and I have never, I repeat never had a properly tied one fail. I knew about the FG for years, but all the instructional videos were from offshore salt fishing where they were using like 100# leaders. Those vids show you weaving the braid around a very stiff leader, but that doesn't work with 8# FC. It wasn't until I

I have commercial rod with a black VSS seat on it (it is marked as a Fugi product). I liked the seat, so I ordered a deluxe VSS to build on, expecting it to match the black eva grip that is made for it and the other black components that I have. I was surprised by the gray and would like to know if black is somehow available?

Thanks everybody for the feedback. What I meant was what color most closely resembles the blank, but the ideas for complimentary colors are a great bonus.

Specifically MHX blanks. I would prefer a ncp for simplicity and to conceal the guide feet.

Thanks for the reply. 16 will probably work just fine. I'll check your site for it.

I need some tubing, but every where I've seen I can only buy it as part of a skeleton seat.

Thanks for the feedback Garry. I mentioned cutting the KDPS down because I am planning to fit an eva hood for the KSKSS foregrip-nut onto it. I prefer its tapered look to the more blunt finish of the KDPS foregrip.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I will try the VSS 17, DL With a cut down KDPS nut/hood.

On paper they seem very much alike, but I have never seen a IPS in person. I'm trying to decide which to use.

All I could find on Anglersresource was the 2012 catalog. Not only do they appear to not have loaded the 2014 catalog, it appears they never bothered to load the 2013 one either.

Is the catalog online anywhere? The 2012 catalog is the only one I see on the Anglersresource site. Has anyone uploaded photos of those pages?

Also, if you know it, the same for the LGAT and TLGST tops in 4.5(4.5) I have tried e-mailing Anglers Resource about this, but I haven't gotten through to them yet. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the tips guys. I never realized that every soda can has an aluminum epoxy cup as it's bottom :)

Do people regularly use both sizes, especially if they are going to pour the epoxy into an aluminum cup no matter what size they use? Will a mixing bearing fit in a 1 oz.?

25. Re: What do you all think is the minimum ring I.D. needed to pass a 10# braid to 8# flouro knot?
I used to use the modified Albright as it was much stronger than the double uni I had been using, but now I use the Slim Beauty. What I prefer about the SB is that the tag end of the leader points rearward thus presenting no possibility of snagging some on it's way out.

I am trying to decide how small an inner diameter I can with go on my micros. The guides would need to pass a leader knot joining 10# braid to a 8# flouro leader.

What do people think are the best (light, strong, reasonably priced) micro guides and tip tops? I'm looking at components for ML to L power rods. Weights, especially for tip tops, seem only partially available. Also, what are alternative tangle free micros the Fugi KT guides and does anyone know the weight of any of the KT guides? Does anyone have an opinion on the Nano Micro guides? I see where
