I recently fixed a friends Penn slammer rod that had a guide broke. The guide was called a spinning guide by a person making a reference apparently because a lot of name name brand companies do this on their heavy spinning rods(using heavy casting guides in place of double foot heavy spinning guides)..i thought a spinning rod would want a high guide from the frame and less wind drag on the cast?

I have noticed that some of the rod blanks I receive new and after they are built are slightly warped to one side of the spine..
I hand wrap my blanks and this occurred on most of the spinning rods of all different length, brands, and stiffness..even a row piece rod.
I store my rods and blanks in a totally vertical position in a rack with no pressure from tip to just below or above the butt

I put abalone sheet inlay on the rod blank after watching 2 different videos.. 1st Video used bowl of warm water to soak abalone sheet, burnishing tool and heat gun..2nd Video only used burnishing tool and heat gun..
I followed the 2nd video step by step, followed by wrapping with size A thread until it cool for 30 minutes..
