Yes I am aware of the buy one and get one at 50% off as well as 70% off. Still a good deal. But if the company goes south and a blank breaks, I would hate to tell my customers sorry no warranty...

So when a deal sounds too good to be true, there is always some sort of catch to it. Getbit just sent out an email regarding this special. Are they goIng got to stop carrrying NFC blanks? Or if NFC folding due to the bankruptcy? A couple reliable sources tell me to be careful about building on NFC Blanks because of the possibility or warranty issues due to the bankruptcy. Any thoughts from any

I have a guy wanting me to build 2 rods on the rainshadow RX8 XST1144. The blank was discontinued earlier in the year. Ive contacted Utmost Enterprises who is my go to for anything Rainshadow/Alps related and Bastons no longer have any back stock. Get bit also no longer has it in inventory. Any of the sponsors still have it in stock?

You can go to your local pharmacy store and ask for silicon free syringes. These do not have the silicon gasket they we are afraid of.

Getbit DOES have awesome service. It seems Kevin forwards the business phone to his cellphone afterhours. They do always seem to be backordered on BKTAG guides though. Nevertheless, service is great and the staff is always professional...

I have the same Harbor Freight Lathe and have a Jacobs chuck attached to it. The 18" Mandrels fit just fine. Alps recently started selling mandrels in 3 sizes. Great product and awesome price and you can also purchase collars for them. Call utmostenterprises.com and talk to Carol, she will get them ordered for you.

IMO, its better to ream out the handles after coating to prevent the foam core dust from getting into the fibers of the carbon fiber.

Thanks guys for all the pointers. I will try the CP trick. I will continue to follow the thread and see if anyone else has some pointers to prevent decals from lifting during the curing process.

I attempted to look up this topic before asking. on 2 recent occasions I had my MHX decal lift and peel while the epoxy is drying... out of the dozens of rods that I have built, this is the first time that it has happened. I had the a under wrap, a thin layer of epoxy. I then allowed it to fully cure before applying the decal and laying the final coat of epoxy. How can I avoid this from happe

All my 11'6 TO 13FT float rods for salmon and steelhead are built from 2 or 3pc spey blanks. Yes the taper and the action would be the biggest difference. They would tend to be lighter then a comparable float rod. If you are building a blank out, the obvious adjustment would be the guide placement of the stripper, reduction and choke guide.

Hi Tom, I'm in Lacey, WA. I don't believe there are any rod building clubs in the area. I do however teach a lot of guys in the area who are interested and willing to learn how to build rods. I don't carry a lot of inventory, if you would be willing to throw some components my way, I would love to take them off your hands. Let me know if you would be interested in doing that. R

I just got my first request for a Surf Rod, I mainly build salmon/Steelhead Rods so this is a little out of my wheel house. The request is for a 12-13 Ft Surf spinning rod. It will mainly be used to cast 1-2 oz weights to target red tail surf perch in the west coast. I am currently trying to figure out what would be the optimal length for the rear handle. any advise would be welcomed. Thank

I Agree with Bill, Sounds like he is getting in over his head.. I'm just looking for supplies... ie. foam core etc... not asking for a custom handle. I think he needs to remember the little guys (hobby builders, small business builders) who made his business successful... I have several standing orders who want carbon grips. Too bad I cant deliver....

Hi Fellow rod building addicts. I am a big fan for the Fuji K guides and build most of the rods with the K guide system. My question is what are the advantages/disadvantages between the normal K guides vs. the High K guides. I build Salmon steelhead rods for both Drift fishing and float fishing. I was just wondering if the High K guides would improve the performance in any of my fishing metho
