I bought a crb 7' medium. It's labeled as having a mod/fast action which should work well for crankbaits. I will either be fishing small to medium crankbaits or lipless baits on it. I also bought a 7' mh mhx cranking rod to build. That rod will mostly be used for lipless baits unless it proves to be to heavy for them which is why I wanted to try the 7' m crb blank as well. I realize they are not

Well I ended up ordering a couple mhx blanks and 1 crb color series blank. After I get it built I will try to do a write up on it.

Thanks John, I am looking to build a couple cranking rods for myself. One geared more for rattle traps and the other one for small to medium crankbaits. I have been looking at the mhx blanks for cranking and they have a moderate/fast action. Since the crb blanks have the same action I am debating on which I might want to get.

Hello everyone, I have tried searching around for information on the mudhole crb blanks and I have not been able to find much. Specifically just looking to see what peoples opinions are of them. Good or bad. Are the actions pretty true to what they are labeled as? Thanks in advance

Earlier this spring I finished a couple rod blanks I had with gudebrod rod varnish. The blanks were bare graphite because they were factory seconds I believe. Recently I fished with them on a very rainy day and by the end of the day the finish was all bubbled. How should I go about refinishing them? Completely strip them down and start fresh or lightly sand and reapply finish? And should I use

hi everyone, another amateur question. I recently picked up a few blanks that were a great deal but they are not finished. I have tried searching the web for information on finishing blanks but haven't found much. my question is what is the best method to apply finish to the blanks? I have attempted to apply finish to one blank but it did not come out as well as I was hoping. seems to be &quo

hello everyone. where do most rod builders buy their cork grips? just curious, I am still fairly new to rod building and recently ordered some grips for a couple spinning rods but when they came in one grip has an obvious bend in it along with what looks like stress cracks possibly from not being glued together properly. these grips were ordered from a well know supplier but the quality of them i

hello everyone. I am sure this topic has been gone over many times before but I am pretty new to rod building and would like some input on good relatively inexpensive crankbait rod blanks. I am looking to build a few different ones for various applications. I am debating between fiberglass or graphite. just wondering what other peoples thoughts are regarding this. pro's and con's of both? here
