Ron, my last two projects I finished with Perma Gloss and was very pleased. I applied with a small foam brush.

I use a small cup hook that has what appears to be a tiny washer on it. I also used a tiny piece of the hobby foam as a gasket and the leaking PG formed a seal. I have the same PG for about 15 mo. and it is still as fresh as could be. I also used this can more than once.

Just another way you can try. I have the person go through his casting motion while I watch where his hand is touching the rod after he settles into a rythem and seems to be making contact in the same area I make note and place the stripper about 2inches above that spot.

Hi Steven!
Permagloss does well as a thread finish especially if you do not want a high build up of finish. I use it often on bamboo. If you want a high build it will take many coats.

I like Mr.Barkley am recently retired and do not want to be tied to the wrapping bench.I was also surprised at the amount of guys that want their 20yr.old $30 rods repaired and/or rewrapped. Must be a sentimental thing.

I have used the two part finish Klass Koat and had very good results. This was a very thin finish that is classified as a paint. I also used Permagloss for both thread and rod finish.

I have redone several older bamboo rods in this non-tradintional manner. One is a 6.5 ft. H-I Geneva that I converted to a 7ft. Fly. Another was a 9ft. Montague Combo.redone with Fuji gold cermats, purpleheart handle & reel seat w/gold hardware. Both owners are very pleased.I personally think that if the old masters would have had these modern items available to them they certainly woul
