I guess I am going to open this one up again. I was looking for some plans to make some skeleton seats and found some bamboo type slip style but really want to give the threading of the seat a try for an uplocking and downlocking pattern. I found some 1" Nickel Silver at Jansens (wish I could find some tubing) so I am ready to go. I am working off dimensions of some skeletons I have layin

2. Guide Size
Hello:
It's been a long time since I have checked in, but I am back.
Does anyone know where I can find a guide size chart for snake guides? I am looking for the inside diameter.
Thanks in advance

Outstanding. Momma is going out of town this weekend and I think I will try the microwave and boiling. If I survive I will let you know how it worked out.
Thanks again.

I have some Black Walnut that I just cut and want to turn it for some reel seats. When I say just cut, I mean just cleared from a lot where I am building. Most I am having ripped into boards but I have heard that there is a microwave process that can be used to dry small pieces so you can use it right away. Is anyone familiar with this process? Thanks.

Check out Hook and Hackle for the Pluegers. I bought one but find it a bit heavy in the lighter weights. For me, I think the best value out there is a Teton (not the Tioga version).

Not sure about how "smooth" they are vs. ceramics. My guess would be the ceramics are smoother. The real advantage is that it is not plated yet corrosion free. The bonus for me is that I am hard on my equipment given some of the terrain I fish, etc. These guides can really take a beating.

I like charcoal lighter fluid. It's cheap and always near by.

Does anyone have a good source of metal tuding, etc for turning parts on lathes. I wanted to start with some aluminum stock before I move up to the nickle silver.
Thanks

Well, once again I learn something new and this site proves to be the best. I have always used an old piece of cardboard or glossy printed material junk mail I get so much of. This was the first time I used a small container as I knew the porportions would be extremely accurate and the container was right at hand. Thanks to all.
As a side note, Devcon was very helpful with responding and

I just read the MSDS sheet on the Devcon website. It is some kind of "runaway cure reaction". It scared the crap out of me. At one point it got so hot I thought it was going to ignite. Maybe some contaminant but it was a sealed package, like form Lowes, a clean cup, and a wooden popsicle type stick out of a sealed bag. Whow.......

I was mixing up a batch of Devcon epoxy (30 minute) last night and to mkae sure I got it just right I had two half ounce tubes and I decided to mike all of it for a total of one ounce (I had four rods at the same stage so it seemed reasonable). I squeezed them both out into one of those little 2oz styrene cups you buy for mixing. Three minutes for stirring and I was ready to go. After taking a

13. Jet Mini Lathe
I seem to remember a web site or someone who posted a list of things to do once you get a new lathe to optomize the performance. The Chinese make a good product but there finishing leaves a little to be desired. Does anyone recall this or know of a good jet lathe site? I tried searches but can up with only sales type sites. Obviously, I just got my new Jet and am like a kid in a candy store.
