Thanks for the suggestions. I already have a Cabela's 5 piece Stowaway and am happy with it. . . . but really need shorter sections for my purpose. I had not seen the Angler's Roost 7pc. At that price I think I will give it a try!!
Thanks Again

I am looking for a 7 pc. 8 1/2' 5wt blank, but am having trouble finding much. This rod will be rarely used, with the ability to pack it into a very small space being its primary quality. A lower priced blank is highly preferred, and I'm willing to adjust to whatever rod actions are available. Any suggestions??
THANKS!!!

While obtaining bait in Baja, an adjacent panga collided with our panga, also hitting my rod (Calstar 700M) which was in a rod holder. The rod was sheered fairly cleanly about 4 inches below the reel seat, without even marring the hypalon grip. I am hoping to repair the rod without replacing the grip. After reading the rod repair article in the library I was thinking of cutting off the gimbal,

I am planning to build a 4 pc, 6wt, faster action fly rod and am looking at durability as a primary concern. I am likely overly cautious when it comes to fish fighting/landing but would like all the help I can get in preventing my rods from breaking. I know that most companies will go out of their way to replace a broken rod section, but that won’t do me much good when I am out on a river.

I am looking to build a couple of fly rods for Alaskan Silver salmon. I am looking at 9 ft, 4 piece 7 wts with medium fast actions. I am particularly concerned about durability. The folks that I will be fishing with have broken several rods (most likely due to high sticking when landing the big fish). Although I'm very careful about not doing that, I know things can sometimes get out of contr

I have built about a dozen rods over the last couple of years and did not put decals on any of them. I would like to do so now (while I can still remember the details). I would rather not mix a batch of epoxy finish (which I used for the rods) for each decal application. I only have the capacity to dry one rod at a time. Can Permagloss be used effectively for this application? If so, how man

Thank you all for your comments. It seems my dilema is somewhat more complicated than I had hoped for. I will likely settle for a two piece rod as there seems to be more options available. I will keep an eye out for future offerings from Batson that might provide the exact blank that I am looking for. The rod that I am hoping to build seems to be one that many others would like, but the "

I want to build a 4 piece 7' 6" or 7' 9" 3wt fly rod and am looking for blank recommendations. Most of the casting would be with less than 30' of dual taper line. . . . indicating an ERN of around 3.25 (I think!!!) The only blank that I seem to be able to find that meets these requirements is the St. Croix SCIV 7' 9". I've had great luck with SCIV's in the past, but I would pref
