Thanks Roger. I am still learning the terminology as I expand my ability to try new things and appreciate the clairification.

I was browsing through the photo gallery and noticed that several rods have a "swelled butt" (where the blank meets the foregrip). I love the effect and don't really understand how it's done. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing this? Much appreciated in advance, John.

I just finished a chevron butt wrap with Madera thread on a light spinning rod and I intentionally left open places where you can see the blank. My question is since I will need to CP the threads, is it ok just to paint CP over the exposed blank? If not, do I have to carefully paint CP over just the threads and avoid painting the blank? Thanks in advance for your help.

I just bought a Jet 1014 and love it. I am new to the art of "turning" and this was a perfect beginner model for me. So far I have made 3 cork handles and 4 ink pens. Okay, I have printed my first WS decals and am ready to apply. My question is, after the label has printed do I need to coat it with some sort of clear spray before putting it into the water? If so can anyone recommend a product for this? Also, once I have the decal "down" I am planning on coating it with FC thin rod finish. Is that ok? If so how many coats? Any tips would be greatly a

Just purchased a jet mini lathe(model 1014) and am going to attempt to turn my first cork handle. The lathe has several different pulleys to adjust the speed by simply moving the belt. The speed range includes 500-3975 RPM. Any advice would be welcomed!! Thanks in advance.
