Spinning rod guide setup dilema

Ok so I have a new 7'6" spinning rod i am building using the New Concept system. When I lay the Rod out with Reel and laser guide down to look for the crossover point. The crossover is 15" from the tip. (generally where choke guide goes.) Now If I look at where the lockup point is for this rod it is considerably further down the rod. and if i did not have an intersection point with the laser i would have built where the lockup/ bend in the rod was and that would have been my choke point. My issue is. If I build the rod to the cross over I will only be able to use 3 or so size 6 fly guides and i do not think that would give me the line path i need, although casting would probably be great. If i drop back to the lock up point then I will use 5 guides and I will have a better line path and possibly hurt casting distance although not a significant amount. any infor would be appreciated.

I don't know why you would have to put your choke guide on the lock-up point. I've never heard of doing it that way. But, why not just try it both ways and see which works best? Might be an interesting experiment.

Tom,

Maybe it is not the "lock up" point but really where the tip section starts to noticably bend. I am only on my 2nd cup of coffee this morning so the brain is not quite in gear.

When faced with the situation you describe I have placed my choke guide where the noticeable bend begins hoping to reduce weight on the tip. I have tested both ways and haven't found the difference in casting distance of much concern.

Stan,

That is what I though. Just wanted to make sure.
