Hi, Does anyone have a pattern (or can tell me where to get one) for an Italics letterset for weaving letters and numbers? Preferable on that is 10 threads or less tall. Thanx in advance for your help. Paul O Re: Weaving Patterns for Letters

Paul, On your computer go to Microsoft Word and use the fonts that are available to you. Choose the correct style, size, in your case 10 theads or 10 squares high. Type in the word, name, etc you want, make a copy, lay on your graph paper, trace, and your good to go. I made my own graph paper and print it off the computer, the size I use is 11"x17". I calculated the ratio so additional threads don't need to be added to get the proportion correct, ie, so your fish won't look fat. Whatever your pattern looks like it will be identical to your woven specimen on the rod. It will handle a pattern of a fish or whatever the subject object you desire with as many as 70 threads in height and 180 threads in length. Good luck, need any additional assistance just let me know....Pat Re: Weaving Patterns for Letters

email me your address and I'll send you a 13 thread pattern given to me by John Stumpe of florida, its slanted to the right kindof like italics and looks real nice woven in D metalic(John says he uses prism thread with good effect) Re: Weaving Patterns for Letters

Hi All, Got in late on this thread (PDP!) and would llike to add a technique I've used for new patterns and lettering. As noted above, do get out the old 'puter but instead of Word let's use Excel. Open a new sheet, highlight a large handful of colums by clicking/dragging across the headers, resize these all so that they result in the cells being squares as opposed to rectangles. Now insert sequential numbers starting with B2 to the right and A2 down the left side. (easily done with a drag starting with 1, 2, and 3 manually typed in and then highlight all three of these and dragging either down or to the right, starting on the lower right corner of the highlighted block) Now pick a color to set into each square to make your design. This can take a little T & E but you'll be surprised at how fast it does go once you get started. You want multicolored weaving threads, have at it, simply change colors as needed. This can be printed out and seems best viewed at a distance of a few feet or so to really get the true effect of a weave rather than a bunch of colored blocks, which is what our weaves really are in the first place. From this base pattern, it is a simple step to make a left list and have at it on a test blank. Experiment with different colors to reach the desired effect!! Enjoy!, John Re: Weaving Patterns for Letters

Paul, I bought a book titled " 97 Needlepoint Alphabets" by B. Borssuck They are all layed out on graph paper. Sure is useful. Have a look at one in a bookstore. Bob Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
