Rainshadow Blank and Fly Reel Seat Questions

hi, im considering purchasing a 10'6" rainshadow blank RX7. im wondering what type of action this blank has? im in need of a moderate action blank. also, what does a matte clear finish look like? now on reel seats, when fitting a seat into the cork handle, does the shape of the hood(because its not round) just push into place? or is there some cutting to do? also, when purchasing a reel seat, does the fighting butt have to be a matching set? how do you know if a reel seat will accept a certain fighting butt? thanks very much, mark

Mark: haven't tried the Rainshadow blanks however they are highly recommended by others on this site. The uplock seat in question is usually supplied with an inletted ring to fit the hood. If not, any rotary tool ie. Dremel tool will do the job.. Be careful. They cut fast even on the slowest setting. Remember to clean up all your cork dust and your in business. Choose a reel seat that has a fighting butt available. Many do but still more do not. Good luck Roundman

Matt,
The clear matte blank shows the dark natural graphite color through and a matte (not gloss) finish.
One thing you might want to check out, and we carry these under the forecast name, is the reel seats that fit into a preformed cork inletted grip. Just slip in the reel seat, no cutting, sanding , gluing extra inletted cork rings, or sanding. You might be surprised at the nice look of the fly reel seats and they are very inexpensive. Match up nicely with the rainshadow blanks. A variety of styles and wood inserts of ebony, walnut, or rosewood and hardware color in shiney gunsmoke, gold, or satin black.
