No doubt I could possibly find this much on my own with some searching, but this board is so quick and works so well I thought I'd give it a go first. I wish to build a nice surf rod. Two pieces perferably and something that would handle from about 4 to 6 ounces. I'll be throwing bait and some lead. Not too much really, but combined about 5 or 6 ounces. Would prefer a graphite stick, but not too large. Prefer small diameter and ease of use - read lightweight! All suggestions are appreciated especially from those of you who do this type fishing and have actually used the blank you are going to recommend. Thank you very much! Re: Surf Suggestions Please

If Talon still makes the old LCI surf blanks, you'd want to look at the GSU1164. It's rated for more than what you list, but I have always thought it was best with about 5 ot 6 total ounces. The Seeker CSU 110 would also be a great rod for your purposes. Lamiglas has the widest range of surf blanks of anybody. Check their website via their link here on this page. You may also find something to suit you from AMTAK or RainShadow. Lots of choices here. ...................... Re: Surf Suggestions Please

Brian, Another blank you might want to look at is the All-Star Breakaway 1418-2 11'9" rated for 3-6 oz. but capable of throwing 8 in a pinch. This is a very light blank, but able to sling a 3 oz. Hopkins out of sight. Two pieces, equal lengths. One of my personal favorites. Lynn Huffman Re: Surf Suggestions Please

I have to agree with Lynn. This is a SUPER rod! It is also my favorite. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
