Hello
I have a 4 pcs Batson Forecast blank F908-4 (9' #8) that I want to build as a light weight travel spinning rod.
Does anyone have a suggestion to how many guides to use and the spacing?
Thank you very much
Kim Hermann, Denmark

Thanks Kim N - I allready had consulted the library.

Well finding a guide spacing chart is no problem. The problem is that general guide spacing charts are general and should allways be adjusted to the specific rod.
I would never have asked for a normal 2 pcs spinning rod.
This is my first time building a 4 pcs spinning rod from a fly blank and I just hoped that some of you cleverer people out-there had some specific experience.

The library page does not have a generic guide spacing chart. It outlines the static distribution method that will give you optimum spacing for your rod.

We may have a communication problem here. Kim H. - the Library page they are referring to is on this site - scroll up as far as you can go on your monitor; there is a menu that goes from left to right, white letters on a black background, Library link is on the far right. Look for the article on the static distribution test.

Also on the Library page is the 'New Guide Concept' article. It is especially for spinning rods. Ralph

Kim,
I recently built a 5' 6" Lt. action 3 piece spinning rod for my brother. I used the end 3 pieces of a Cabelas 5 pc 6 wt travel rod blank. It casts a Mepps #3 wonderfully (which happens to be his favorite lure). I used 5 guides plus the tip and spaced them as I normally would on any spinning rod. Hope that helps and good fishin'.
