Hello everyone, I have a question. I need to know what is the standard length of a handle for a 15' spey rod. And about how many guides are used, and where would I place them in relation to the spine. Thank you for your help Randy Re: two handed rods

What I have done in the past on these long rods is to mimic what I see in the rod catalogs. Most will give measurements as to how long they are. Even if they don't, all is not lost!
Measure the picture of the reel seat, then ratio the seat length to the actual length you know the seat to be! Once you know the scale it is very easy to just to apply it to the handle as well. Loomis used to have some good photos of spey and two hand rod handles in their catalog and I think they even gave the lengths. You may want to adjust it for you or your customer but the factory lengths are a good place to start. They worked these out for the best use of the masses and you can't go wrong starting there. I put my guides opposite the spine on all fly type rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
