Burkheimer blank action....

Hey guys,

Recently I have been asked by several people to describe as best as possible the action and feel of the Burkheimer series of blanks. Since feel and action are subject to different interpretations by every individual caster this can be a perplexing task. However I'll take a stab at it anyway. Kerry describes his blanks as a "Modified Dry Fly" action. "Modified Dry Fly" is a term used by the late Russ Peak (Kerry's mentor) who described his rods as either Dry Fly (a fast tip action) Modified Dry Fly (medium fast) or Parabolic (slow). In my experience, I would say that medium fast is probably the best way to describe these rods. They are not fast action rods, rather they flex more into the mid/tip area with a normal casting stroke. They will however allow the caster to generate exceptional line speed...with proper technique of course, giving the user the flexibility
fish further out or deal with the inevitable wind if necessary. These are very pleasant rods to use, they don't require a lot of work to form the loop, they roll cast well, and most of all, they just fish well.
One warning! Please do not make a judgement about these rods after test casting them in your front yard or in your street. This is not a rod designed to cast well in a parking lot (like so many of the rods out
there) it's an on the water rod. To truly appreciate the performance of a Burkheimer you have to "fish it".

Can you provide the AA of any of them. I think that would give those of us familiar with various actions something more to go on. Thanks.

What does he have in small stream rods. 6 to 7.5 feet and 3 and 4 weight.
