SCII Thread combos

I'm getting ready to wrap my third rod. Its a brown blank and I would like to use a trim wrap also. I have never tried color preserver but am willing to give it a try. I tend to like it without but was thinking most of the brownish colors like chestnut may not show up much. I have maroon and garnet which i haven't used yet and some scarlett although I don't know if it will get me the whole way through. With any of these colors do you think I should use color preserver? I also have med. green, gold, silver, and tan. Any ideas with or with these colors with or without color preserver. Based on past experiences I'm guessing you need CP for the tan or gold. I'm out of epoxy or I'd experiment and I want to get started wrapping. many thanks, Jeff

make a test wrap, add the trim, and use a brush/spatula dipped in water to wet it. The color will be close to no CP.

On those blanks, I like to use chesnut without CP. I think that it looks more "elegant" that way. Of course this is just my opinion. Also try using small white or cream trim wraps with CP. This looks surpisingly good.

I've used the chestnut on the same blank with thin metallic gold tag wraps that look nice. I don't use CP.

Just finished a SCII flyrod for a charity donation. Used chestnut wraps (no CP) with small tan NCP trim bands. Looks great!
