In the book, Rod Building Guide, I suggested making a double overwrap when making your tie-off wrap to eliminate any gaps or bleed through from the tied off threads. Done as I suggested, no one will ever know it is not a single wrap. After you get the first few winds of your tie-off wrap in place and have begun cutting your threads, do not cut them all at once. Cut a few on this turn, and a few more on the next, and so on and so forth. This will help eliminate any sudden bulge or hump under the tie-off wrap. It also is helpful to spread and flatten the end of each of the cut threads. ......................... Re: butt wraps

I usually wrapp over top also to add the Hook Keeper.. Also if your not adding a Hoo Keeper I just do a single wrapp I comb all threads out then I just wrap all the way to in front of grip an cut all ends as close as possible to grip, then the winding check will cover where you end..
