Hello all,
Im hoping to build some fibreglass bfs rods for small stream work, casting up to 5g. Finding blanks here in the UK is hard for this but I can get hold of plenty of fibre glass fly rod blanks. Is it possible to use a fly rod blank for bfs? What line weight fly rod would you recommend of it is possible? Thanks, Tom Re: fibre glass fly rod blanks for bfs trout rods?

You might find length to be an issue. But I would look for the fastest action 4 weight. Re: fibre glass fly rod blanks for bfs trout rods?

Why can't you just use a ultralight glass blank in the 1 to 6 lb. line class and be done with it? Your high end is in the 1/7 oz. range, I fish a Fenwick FS 53 and FS 61 2 piece for that purpose. A blank is a blank though. The guide weight will affect the blank considerably either way so be careful here. The FS 53 high end weight is a 7 g rod, 1 to 6 lb. line it's lived mostly on 2 lb. mono.
