Hello, I have reached out to NFC some time ago and they haven’t reached back out regarding their recommended guide spacing. Is there a chart out there available for fly rod spacing. Have several gamma betas in 7,9,10,11 and a iconoglass 8 wt if that is any help. Thanks Re: NFC guide spacing rec

They are available on their website. You just click the link and input the model number. Re: NFC guide spacing rec

Rarely are there absolute separate spacing charts for each model, mostly you will see the same spacing for all models in a series and just the guide sizes change as needed. If you look at their charts there many times rods three inches shorter or longer will have the same guides and spacing. The very reason I never use them, I do a static distribution test every time. I have used NFC's chart's listed guide points on several fly rods and they have turned out quite well. Yes, on web site. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/10/2024 01:50PM by david taylor. Re: NFC guide spacing rec

I appreciate the replies, I will start with the chart and do a static test and adjust from there. I can’t believe I didn’t see the chart right on the website Re: NFC guide spacing rec

Try this link and search "GammaBeta" and you should find what you are looking for, I have had the same experience as David for fly builds.

Those type of listing on web sites are easy to miss. Another good place for fly rod guide spacing on various weight rods is on the Epic Fly Rod web page. Of course their recommendation is specific to their rods, but is an overall good reference point.
For fly rods, which I build, I appreciate when the spacing for a 4-piece rods places one of the running guides just above a ferrule, so you can use a slightly elongated female end of a ferrule wrap also as a guide foot wrap. I dislike when the guide placement is recommended and inch or so up from the ferrule, eliminating the double purpose wrap. Yes, I get static tests and the perfect location desire, but there is a convenience factor as well. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
