Spey Reel seat.

I'm looking for a reel seat for an 8wt NFC Spey rod 12'6". I'm looking at the ALPS RA701L2 SERIES, or the ALPS MODEL LXL2 CENTRA-LOCK. Which do you prefer? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

If you want the most performance, best most secure reel holding and least likely to ever rust, corrode jam or fail, then its a Fuji nylon pipe seat all day long.

Easily the nicest Spey reel seat I ever used was a Spey sized uplocking Ferguson reel seat from Bellinger many years ago, the second was a Snake Brand Spey seat, the insert variety on both was large.

Thanks. Those Ferguson and Snakes look very nice.

Is the Fuji nylon designed for a Spey Rod?

The Fuji is a standard pipe style spinning/casting reel seat, copied by many others, not pretty but very effective, reliable and inexpensive.

The Fuji and similar are designed for reels, not a particular rod type. They work across the board.
