Assuming that cork rings are stored dry in about 70 degree temp in a dark drawer, how long would the rings last before they 'go bad' and are not useful for building? I have some fantastic decades old cork rings and they still seem to be brand new perfect....so I got to wondering.
Thank you. Re: Do cork rings have 'expiration dates'

They're fine. Consider how many rods, decades old, still have the original cork grips on them and more often than not they're still going strong. Save for a dog or something chewing them up, cork lasts a long, long, long time.

With a minimum amount of care the cork will last many generations.
Use them with pride. Have fun Re: Do cork rings have 'expiration dates'

We were still using cork life rafts made in WW II when our ships I was on were built in the 80's. The only thing we replaced was the cloth bottom and strapping from time to time. Re: Do cork rings have 'expiration dates'

I believe that cork rings expire in about 500 years. Re: Do cork rings have 'expiration dates'

Built about 1981, applying touch up epoxy to the wraps a couple of years ago.
Take care of the rods and they will last forever. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
