Removing old adhesive from epoxy

Unfortunately, I've had to remove several stickers that were applied over epoxy. They were not coated yet. I heated and pulled off the plastic but some minimal adhesive remained. I used some alcohol and got most but the surface seems tacky. Should I use something else like acetone? Sand lightly? Or...can I just epoxy over the residue (worried about fisheyes...etc) Thank you all for any suggestions!

I would not use acetone. It will remove the finish from some blanks. Don't even have any in the house or shop. I would try Goo Gone. Seems to work on about anything sticky. You might try it on an unobtrusive area of the blank to ensure it doesn't affect the finish.

Just for clarification, I always put a light layer of epoxy down first and then apply my decals. So, I'm not removing the adhesive residue from the blank but the epoxy I put down before the sticker was applied. I've never used Goo Gone on epoxy but have used it many times on the plain blank with great success. I'm more concerned with screwing up the initial epoxy layer I put down and contaminating the next layer. Sorry if I confused anyone.

I have removed epoxy with alcohol and thread. I dab a Q-Tip with alcohol on the epoxy then put alcohol on the thread then spin the rod on my wrapper and use the thread to cut of the epoxy, I found that size e thread works better that A or D and no ncp thread. You use a few pieces of thread as they get clogged up with the epoxy ,

Any paint thinner should remove the residue. Clean the epoxy after with DNA.
