I got an issue . I have a heavy duty rod that needs a new rear eva grip, It has to measure 16' and I have to put it on from the rear up due to the amount of guides, etc on the rod.My problem is that the butt end of the rod measures 1' and can`t seem to find an eva grip with an id so big. The biggest one I`ve found has a 3/4" ID. Iv`e tried reaming but it`s very tedious and time comsuming.I`m afraid I`m going to break the grip. Any suggestions? Re: reaming long eva grips

Would it be possible to put heat shrink over the old grip? Re: reaming long eva grips

Yes, to heat shrink, when I needed long reamers, I just made them. I have 3 that are at least 3 ft. long and up to 4 ft. Took me about 10 minutes to find a 1" ID grip, Angler's Workshop's R4212 is a 14" grip, I bet you can figure how to make it 16 inches on your own. Just bought Angler's last two 19" cork grips just the other day. Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 03/11/2024 12:46AM by Spencer Phipps. Re: reaming long eva grips

I had a similar problem with an old off shore rod of mine. I opted for the shrink wrap instead of removing the old rear grip. It worked wonderfully and has held up for nearly five years. There are other options but this has worked for me in the past. Re: reaming long eva grips
