Hello again Just finished applying Gen 4 finish to my decal. I applied a coat of high build & low build (mistake) and turned out wavey. Is it possible to sand it back as close to the decal as possible? I’m concerned about the clarity after reapplying the finish. What type or grit of sand paper would I use or am I stuck with this rookie mistake?

Oh I forgot to say, all have to turn the rod with is a CRB variable speed drying motor (45rpm max)

What Tom said on the fix. To avoid in the future, I believe the problem most have with waviness over a long length like a decal is applying too much epoxy and not applying it with "longitudinal" strokes. I see all these comments about taking excess off, and videos with gobs of epoxy all over the equipment, and I just don't have that. And I get smooth epoxy over decals. Light build epoxy, applied with a soft brush, only enough to smoothly wet the surface, longitudinal strokes to level it as it's applied. Once I cannot see any missed spots, I leave it alone.

Depending on how much finish you applied previously - I would use 400 - 600 grit so you don't go into your threads.
I don't block sand.
I cut a strip of 1-2" wet or dry and buff like your polishing a shoe with a rag.
It evens out the surface and you don't have to worry about longitudinal uneveness.
Obviously - rotate the rod every once in awhile.
