Telescoping blank ID & advice

Hello all,
1st post here. So about a decade ago, I went to the ICRBE & grabbed several blanks from the trash cans. Not too long after, I stopped fishing for a while & I just discovered a few blanks hanging in the garage. The one I'm most interested in has the following marking on a label near the but: GFS827T. I assume the FS stands for Flipping Stick & the 82 pretty well matches the length. It's a telescoping blank, seems pretty powerful & not a super fast action. I'd love to know some actual specs (like lure weight). Now for the advise part. The only application specific rod l'd like to build right now is a spinning rod to do popping cork fishing for old drum out of the kayak this summer/fall. Is this a terrible idea with this blank? Thanks Re: Telescoping blank ID & advice

I have no way to prove it, but my mind went immediately to it being a lower end graphite All Star blank. Maybe one of the Big Boy jig rod series. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/04/2024 01:34PM by Spencer Phipps. Re: Telescoping blank ID & advice

It is almost certainly either an All-Star, Castaway or Shikari. I don't have a catalog in front of me so I cannot say for sure which it is.

"It's an All-Star flipping stick...MH/MF"
Thanks. Any thoughts about how ill advised it would be to build it as a spinning rod? Re: Telescoping blank ID & advice

As long as you keep the guides outside the collapsed length of the blank, you can make it anyway you like. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
