Good afternoon gents,
I am new to the site, and 6 months new to rod building. I recently built 4 KR concept 7 foot and 8 foot rods to use with both inshore and local freshwater lakes. I have done a ton of reading on the KR concept and after building and casting them recently all I can say is WOW!, what a difference. I am wanting to make 10 foot surf rod 2 piece. I entered some numbers on the GPS calculator. I am going to use a Penn Pursuit III size 3000 with 15 pound braid, my distance from rod butt to the reel axle at mid travel is 24.25 inches. It is telling me to use the 16 and 10 KLH followed by 5.5 KM, then I was thinking 2- 5.5 KB's, followed by how ever many 5.5 KT's my static testing/ gradual decrease in distance to the tip requires to look right with rod under load. In you guys opinions do you think this will work ok, or should I look at a different way? I built a COF 10 footer, and I have used the x27 method and built an NGC 10 footer now after using my KR 7 and 8 footer I am really curious about this KR 10 footer. Thank you all in advance. Braid is small diameter and limp so you can usually get away with smaller guides but I would be suspect of a 16 for the butt guide. Make really sure that any knots or connections you have will clear those 5.5 guides. I am guessing you are not using a shock leader since you are on braid but if you area I would make doubly sure your knot will clear through the 5.5s. Re: KR Concept Surf Rod

Do a 20 for 3000 sized reel, then the rest just like you stated. If the 10 KLH doesn't space out right or create a straight line to the choke point then try a 12 KLH. Re: KR Concept Surf Rod

Thank you, Mike and Lance for the replies. I made a mistake on my post the GPS software recommended the 16/8/5.5. I don't use leaders so that will not be an issue. for me. I went up to the 20-30 braid and it shot me a 20/10/5.5. I will give that a try and see how things line up. Thanks again. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
