James Heddons Sons #10 Blue Waters bamboo rod

I happened into this fly rod and I dont consider myself a fly expert. I am definitely not a bamboo guy. Is this a rod worth taking to a dedicated professional or is it a good first bamboo restoration project? My friend brought it to me and I don't want to steer him wrong.

It needs stripped, guides, and the seat needs work. I can post pictures later if needed.

Heddon bamboo rods were quite good, particularly any of the models from #20 and above, which were built in the "Heddon Hand-Made" shop. These rods were each built by one person who crafted the rod from start to finish. The models under the #20's were built in assembly line fashion but utilized the same quality bamboo.

The Model 10 was more along the lines of an economy model and while good rods they did not have the same quality components the more expensive rods had and the number of guides used was fewer. They are not among the more valuable Heddon rods so what you have could make for a good restoration project. If the cane is in good shape you will have yourself a nice bamboo rod but you won't be ruining a rod that might otherwise be quite valuable.
