I was wondering if anyone on here has built the above CTS 10wt, and if so what was your guide spacing? I have been playing around all day and am just not feeling it. My guide train is 20, 16, 12, 6, 5.5, 5, 4 (4's) and tried 6 (4's).The rod is 8' 9". Any thoughts or experience would be very appreciated.
Thanks Re: CTS Quartz TT 10wt guide spacing

You don't need all those different guide sizes. If you know you'll be starting with a 20 and ending with a 4, then get on down to it. Try 20 - 12 - 4's. It'll give you a straighter line path and less weight.

David,
I find that I need more gudes on the Glass rods than carbon. Why not use the CTS chart for guide spacing - and extrapolate for the missing 3". Following in mm Length 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Tiptop 6'6" 1303 1037 797 585 399 239 106 0 7'6" 4pc 1548 1269 1016 786 580 399 242 109 0 7'6" 3pc 1537 1263 1014 786 580 399 242 109 0 8'0" 3&4pc 1700 1427 1175 944 735 546 378 231 105 0 8'6" 4pc 1833 1538 1267 1018 792 588 407 249 113 0 Also, from your use of a 5.5 runner it seems that you intend to use ceramic guides - unless you know of wire 5.5 guides. If my assumsion is correct and you are intending to use ceramics - IMO - do not - too heavy. Herb CTS Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/16/2024 08:58PM by Herb Ladenheim. Ignore the 5.5, that is the tube size for my tip top. I was looking at my build notes of parts when I wrote this. Ooops. And thanks for your input Herb. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
