Does anyone have weights for the new version Snake Brand single foot guide ( with the closed ring ).

You would hink they would weigh similar to like size guides from other sources that have the same wire diameter, you'd have to have 20 - 30 of them to get an accurate weight difference I imagine.

They are a little heavier than the REC Recoil guides.

I have seen these guides and talked directly to Mike McCoy (owner of Snake Brand) - these guides are a wonder to behold! Mike has put his patented process to use creating curved guide feet that match the curvature of the blank, and has developed a special micro-weld process to make the ring so it is not only both perfectly round, it is durable as well!

While I believe in supporting the businesses that support this forum, like American Tackle, NFC, Voodoo Rods, etc., Snake Brand is where I make an exception. They are the only fly guides I use (after the stripper, where I use the AT Microwave guides)

I just finished a build using the Snake Brand single foot guides.

Yes, they re heavier than the REC single foot titanium guides, but they are round and elevated, compared to the REC titanium guides. The question is the round guide with increased elevation worth the extra weight.

I make high end flyrods, and I will use the Snake Brand single foot guides on my rods.

Another point came up on stripper guides distance from the butt on fly Rods’s. I have the greatest respect for Tom Kirkland, however, the stripping guide should be placed to your arm length.

A stripping guide should be placed at the distance conducive to line management. Being 5’11” myself that is 28”. I have seen a value of 32”on the forum , which is common on production rods suggested. I want the stripping guide placed for line control and the custom rod built for me by Tom Morgan, distance from the butt to stripping guide was 28”.

Forums provide great information, but always question and varify

I’m interested in knowing how they compare to the small torzites I currently like.

Don't have any in hand to check their accuracy but converted their grains to grams.
# 1 - 0.11grams, # 2 - 0.12grams, # 3 - 0.15grams, # 4 - 0.17grams, # 5 - 0.25 grams, # 6 - 0.27grams

With them being a standoff guide would like to know their height as well myself . . . . for transition/choker guide and the like.

Any idea how they will hold up or are anticipated to hold up in the salt?

Like all guides whose basic construction is Stainless (Stain-less) Steel - they wil stain the wraps if not washed frequently.

Ernie, they are treated with their proprietary ECO coating and salt resistent, and only the black nickel is not recommended for salt usage
