Hi all!
I am looking to build 1/2 oz spoon throwing spinning rod for (2-4 lb) trout fishing. I need casting distance. Is there a blank to outcast them all? Happy New Year! Thank you. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/01/2024 06:01PM by Dee Rama. Re: NFC blank recommendation.

The best casting spinning rod blanks that I have come across are Fuji Point Blank blanks. I believe the NFC X-Ray blank line is designed by the same guy. I would look at some of the medium light X-Ray blanks with a large butt and a thin tip and fast action in the 7'3" to 7'6" lengths. Re: NFC blank recommendation.

I have no idea if it can outcast them all, no one has casts them all. NFC ST1143-2 X-Ray C6O2 will get it out there and give you a world class steelhead and coho rod besides. Same models in lesser carbons will also work in the same fashion, all species. Great compromises between getting it out there and using them all day in this length. Re: NFC blank recommendation.

I would suggest the st1004, the st993 or the st964. I would think an 11’3” rod would become unwieldy to cast and retrieve lures all day. True that it probably could buck a spoon a country mile. But for fishing practically you the shorter 9-10’ blanks are where I would look. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
