Hello.
I am looking to build a tuna trolling rod 50-100 on an aluminum butt. I have built some similar rods in the past. I have always gotten my components from my local supply shop. Unfortunately they have closed and I am doing more shopping online. One main component I miss the most is their Knowledge. I am looking to build a rod approximately 6’ long. I have always gotten a roughly similarly long blank and cut it to size with good results. ON the online stores I see 4’11” blanks with the power and action I am looking for. So my question is are the shorter blanks designed to be installed on an aluminum butt, or will they have so much backbone that making them a foot and a half longer will turn them into a telephone pole? Almost certainly that 4'11" blank is designed for use in a Uni-Butt. Find out who the manufacturer is and give them a call and ask to be sure.
If it's not a blank meant for a Uni-Butt, it'd have to be intended for single piece use as a very heavy stand-up rod. .......... Re: 4’11” blank on aluminum butt.

Thank you Tom.
I took your advice, they got back to me today. It is designed for an aluminum butt. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
