Looking for recommendations on a NFC blank for dragging bottom bouncers with crawler harness for walleyes. Rod will be built in casting configuration but will be used for trolling, no casting. Bouncer weighs will be 1oz to possibly 3oz depending on depth. Trolling speed will be relatively slow 1.2-1.5 mph. Was considering a MB 736 or possibly MB 7108. I know sensitive is a relative word but looking for something fairly responsive as the rod will not be in a rod holder and feeling the bouncer drag bottom will be necessary.

Personally, I would look at the Hybrid Delta CB706, A tight line presentation ensures you will have no sensitivity problem. If I knew more about the heavier Iconglass blanks I would have no problem using one of those either, this is not something you need a MB blank for.

I second Spencer.
On our 2 local reservoirs we do a lot of bottom bouncing,
and a fairly soft tip and moderate action work better here.
That gives the fish a little extra time to take the bait.
Something in a hybrid is what works well.
A blank I have used and like is the Batson RDR70-M, or RDR710-M
It is glass that blends into graphite for some good backbone, yet moderate action.
We like the "turnover" guide train with a revolving spool reel.

Another is the REVIP- RX7 graphite series, but watch how you handle it with those heavier weights.

I have built 4 BB on the Hybrid CB 7115 Zentron (Delta) They are great rods kids have not broken one yet! Soft tip lots of back bone.

If I could ask, what are the heaviest weights you have pulled with these blanks? Also what size tip top did you use? It is not listed on NFC’s site

The shorter rod would be a bit less tiring to hold all day I would think.

The CB7115 would absolutely work.

We are going to introduce two dedicated blanks specifically for dragging bottom walkers (one lighter, one heavier) within the next week or so. (We are actually working on building up some inventory, because we know it will be a popular offering)

They will be hybrid, 7'11 in length, and matte finish.

Heaviest would be 5 oz.. Most of the time 4oz up front 3oz out the back. Sorry for the late reply I was out elk hunting last week.

I am building a HS760-1 Delta LMX. I am sure it will work fine for 1 and 2 oz. Might be too light for 3 oz, will see. I really like the Delta LMX blanks. I have a HS7600-1 I use to pull a spinner with a bullet sinker in the weeds. Happily surprised how sensitive the blank is and the action is perfect. If you are going to hold it in hand, they are very light for this type blank.

Wow my experience on Erie, NYS and Can. bottom bouncing is so much different. I started using an old ugly stick with 30 lb braid and a baitcaster, I love the line pick up rate and how the rod loads- when drifting. Just another solution to a problem.
Its the smallies and sheephead that are hard on the gear.
