Anodizing Titanium

What do you think of the idea of anodizing titanium materials in rodbuilding? Titanium guide frames, reel seats, etc? Anodizing can be done with a number of 9v batteries energizing the part in a solution. You can achieve different colors depending on the number of batteries used.

I have no plans of doing this (no titanium parts), but I thought it might be an idea for other rod builders.

Back Creek custom rods, will anodize titanium components for you. That’s what their business is all about.

I built a speck rod with the dark blue anodized titanium from Back Creek. In the full sun, they have an aura and glow blue. Awesome!

Can you give me a ball park idea of cost per guide?

Kerry - you can find pricing at www.CustomColoredGuides.com - I offer Alps and Fuji titanium - I keep inventory of the Alps and limited inventory of Fuji but can bring in whatever is needed and I’ve also done American Tackle & SeaGuide titanium.

Titanium carries a premium price due to the guides of course…. I also offer powder coated options on stainless

Depends on why you want it. Color? or Corrosion resistance? The latter is already a given with titanium so unless you just want a different color I doubt it buys you anything.
