Help with broken rod

I snapped the butt section of a rod and it was a clean break at the female end of the section above. I'm having a hard time removing the male end out of the female section. I don't want to damage the ferrule. Any suggestion on how I can get the broken male piece removed?

Maybe drill a small (1/16" in the center of the male piece nd use a small screw to remove it by pulling- Strictly a guess on my part. I am sure there are much smarter people out there who have done that removal before & have a better idea

If it's the typical stuck ferrule, putting the piece with the stuck ferrule into a freezer might help. It's worked for me before.

Hey Rick.
Is this a rod built on a CTS blank??
I can help you get a replacement S1 section if you want.

The way to remove a stub male ferrule is to epoxy something thin and strong like a finishing nail - not a toothpic - into the butt end of the male ferrule and pull it out after the epoxy cures. You may have to carefully drill into the plug of the male ferrule. Do not drive a screw into the ferrule - it will expand it and maybe break the female of S2.

Thanks for the help on this. I'll try the freezer first then the epoxy. Not a CTS blank Herb. Though I have been playing with the Spey blank I received from you it is nice.
