Older skeleton reel seat

A number of years ago, probably around 10-15, I bought a number of machined aluminum fly reel seat skeletons. They were purchased on @#$%& and the seller was very cantankerous. I remember his @#$%& name as BOBO. He couldn’t stand any criticism and was very obnoxious in his replies. I never used the seats and now I am looking to build a couple rods using them. The take a slightly larger diameter insert than the UL3 and do have a mortise. I’m wondering if any of you have used them and what your opinion is.
Thank for the input.

You can add it to any photo hosting site, including the one linked to this forum and then just copy and paste the photo link in a post here. Without a photo it's going to be hard to advise, unless somebody knows the guy and has used the same seats.

Can you either "mic" or use a dial caliper and give us the OD needed?
(The ID of the skeleton)
How long is the threaded section of the skeleton?

Best wishes,
Ron Schneider

Thanks a lot for the reply. John passed around 5 years ago. The reel seats probably came from his connections to Anglers Roost. He was an interesting man and would have been neat to know. One of these days I’ll figure out how to post a photo of the skeleton hardware. . I am experimenting with a reel seat that needs a larger diameter insert and this seat seems to be perfect. I’ve been experimenting for a couple days getting the mortise of the wood insert inlet to match with the radius of the threaded barrel. I have too much time on my hands, but I think I have it!
