For finishing rod guide wraps, can silicone brush be used sufficiently? Or will there be more harm than good? Re: Silicone brushes?

They won't hurt anything but I cannot see them as being superior to regular ox or camel hair brushes.

I just use the cheap ones from a 5 & Dime type store and ditch them when the rod is done. Re: Silicone brushes?

I'm curious as to what advantage you're expecting, compared to 15 cent throwaways (which can actually be reused)? Re: Silicone brushes?

The Amazon link is not working. Are they still sold on Amazon and could I find them elsewhere? Re: Silicone brushes?

Ralph O'quin a guy who developed a lot of products and was an expert for Boeing, said that one should use a spatula for applying finish epoxy not a brush. He said it was't a paint. Well i didn't like that method, so started using a brush closely resembling one and that is long stiff and soft. i like long bristles. I also learned how to load them to eliminate small bubbles. Easy for me to clean and mine last me many years. Lots of different widths available to fit wraps and other areas. Re: Silicone brushes?

I have been using one for a year now. i like the ability to clean them easily and not throw brushes in the trash. They apply and spread finish quite well. Just make sure to clean them prior to use. I actually use a spatula for applying finish to guides and smaller wraps. I use the silicone brush (clay modeling brush) for larger areas and decorative wraps.
