<$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

I'm looking for relatively inexpensive blanks for throwing mepps spinners and other similar size baits for river bass and pan fish under 1lb. I would prefer a blank around 6'9 but I have no issues cutting down a 7' blank if that's the best option. They will be built as a spinning rods, 1 each for a neice and nephew. I've looked at the NFC Delta MB 692 but I'm not sure how light it'll be. Thanks in advance for the recommendations! Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

I’ve built a MB703 that would handle small spinners but no experience with the MB692, I would think it would work fine. Personally I’d use a CRB color-series blank for the color option. [mudhole.com] Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll see if the CRB blanks come in a color they'd prefer. Crb mentions those for use targeting snook which makes me a little leary of their power. Would they have any trouble slinging light baits for smaller fish? Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

The MB 662 Delta is a closer fit to what you are looking for I think. The small trebles on the Mepps spinners would be more up it's alley, you could always stretch them 3 inches easily. Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

Ditto the CRB blanks. Inexpensive and just the right tool for the job for youth rods. Fairly bullt proof too! Rog Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

Another vote for the CRB color series. Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish

CRB would be a great youth rod. I’ve built 2 of them, a 66MLF and a 66LF. I’d recommend going with light. They seem to have a very stiff action, I bought the ML for using live bait on big trout streams and it was too stiff. It’s now my camping rod because it’s a fairly versatile bass blank.
The light power rod is more in lines of what I’d expect for a stream rod. Another option would be an NFC IMFW702 or FW704. Re: <$50 Blank recommendations for mepps spinners and sub 1lb river fish
