I was able to find some motors that I had somewhere. 2 9v DC motors salvaged from a printer was rigged to a plastic gearbox that have 48:1 reduction gears. The output wheel now spins slowly enough to serve as a rod dryer. The torque is also quite solid. I now have to figure out how to connect the rod butt to it somehow, like a chuck. I will have to figure out how to make the other motor work as I don't have a gear box for it.
I also have a motor salvaged from a microwave. The motor for the turntable spins at 3rpm with 120v AC. Unfortunately I messed it up to the point it can't be used. It is a induction motor and it gets hot when it runs for some time. Probably a gel ice pack resting on it can help reduce the temperature. Re: Epoxy questions

For many years I used a tuna fish can cobbled onto the shaft with 4 screws through the can wall at 0, 90,180,270 degrees with rubber bands stretched between the opposite screws. Sticking the butt through the junction of the rubber bands held it securely. Re: Epoxy questions

I built a rod drier from a bbq spit motor over 30 years ago. 3 RPM and never had a sag. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
