Epoxy cure time

Yesterday I fixed a guide and used ProKöte epoxy in the syringe. I got a good setup overnight and as to be expected it is still a bit tacky. I am confident that I got a good mix and application.
I know it can take some time for the tackiness to go away, probably at least 48 hours. Once it is dry is it safe to take the rod fishing or should I let it cure for longer? Re: Epoxy cure time

I typically give epoxy 3 full days cure time before I take a rod fishing. You can accelerate the cure time by putting the rod into a very warm area. A sunroom, car interior (if the car is in the sunlight) or similar. Higher temperatures will vastly speed the cure rate of the epoxy.

Yup...ProKöte takes longer to fully cure. Re: Epoxy cure time

Tom's right. I don't release a rod to a customer until it's had a chance to cure for 3-4 days. And yes, putting it on the sun will really accelerate the cure time. Re: Epoxy cure time

Thanks. I'll just leave it home on Thursday. I won't get out again for 2 weeks: it will be fine by then. Re: Epoxy cure time

I like ProKote (although I rarely use it now days), but it is one of the longer curing brands. As the others have said, it’d probably be a good idea to give it few days before fishing it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
