Mud Hole Supports Sport Fish Restoration Program & FWC

Mud Hole Custom Tackle has been working to protect fishing species and their habitats since 1999. Alongside our partners, we have provided funding and leadership for fishing habitat and hatcheries [mudhole.com] , educated thousands of youths on fishing [cdn.shopify.com] , and promoted research-based tagging efforts [youtu.be]. We are committed to fighting for clean water, stainable hatcheries and working with the next generation of recreational anglers to leave the waterways better than we found it.

Recently, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission (FWC) highlighted the importance of Sport Fish Restoration program in new video with Mud Hole Custom Tackle. At its July meeting, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) released a new video that emphasizes the crucial role excise taxes play in Sport Fish Restoration funds to support conservation efforts. This compelling video was produced in collaboration with Mud Hole Custom Tackle as part of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Partner with a Payer initiative. By showcasing the partnership between the FWC and Mud Hole, the video sheds light on how the contributions made by excise taxes collected from the sales of fishing equipment support various habitat restoration and revitalization efforts for Florida’s fisheries.

It is the fishermen and rod builders that actually fund the Sport Fish Restoration program. It is a user tax that starts at the first point of sale and is then passed down to the consumer in the purchase price. The money Mudhole and other mfgs pay into the fund comes from the fishermen and rod builders. Let's be straight about that!
