I'm in the process of putting together a material list for 2 walleye trolling rods. I'm a little confused on what size and spacing I should be using. The blanks are 2pc MH moderates. I'm considering dbl foot guides for the first 3 guides sz10, 8, and 6 then sz 6 single foot runners (9-10 total guides) or would I be better starting with sz 12 and scaling down? Would sz8 or 7runners be better? I could be using braid or leadcore. Also, I build my own handles, and after reading a few of the posts, many prefer EVA over cork for rod handles. Was thinking a 8-9" handle with a 3-4" foregrip. I've also read several posts on using a simple spiral wrap. I've never done one before and is it worth doing on a walleye trolling rod? Thanks for the help! ><))))">….><))))">….><))))">….Just Fish Prior Lake Rod Building Guild Instagram @pl_rod_building_guild Re: Guide selection and spacing for 8'6" walleye trolling rods

Most any casting rod will benefit from a trolling rod, in particular any trolling rod.
Unless the lead core line is an issue, #6's should be fine for your running guides. I'd flex that blank pretty good and see where it tends to "shut off." I would use double foot guides up to that point, unless you go with a spiral wrap. EVA will wear better in a rod holder than cork, provided it is a very firm EVA. .............. Try 4 1/2, 10, 16, 24, 32, 41, 51 1/4, 64. This is for a 14 inch rear grip, grip length changes reel position, this changes the guide spacing somewhat. Don't think I have put that short a rear grip on that long of a rod, and don't think I have seen it either. I would have at least a 12 inch grip. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
