I'm starting an NFC FASY1268-4 spey rod. Looking for help with guide size selection. Currently looking at the following.
20-16-12(Stripping) 6-6-6-5-5-5-5-5-5. Does this seem to be correct? Thank you. Re: NFC Spey Build Guide selection

You've got too many different sizes on there - the line doesn't need all those. If you know the 20 will be your stripping guide and you can pass whatever you need to pass with the 5's, just do something like 20 - 12 and then all 5's. Less weight, straighter, smoother line path. If you have some guides on hand, try both and I think you'll agree that using so many different sizes gains you nothing.

You can check for yourself with your guides, but on mine a #4 and a ceramic 12 have the same inside diameter. Re: NFC Spey Build Guide selection

Hey Rick, how did this rod turn out? I’m considering building on this blank but I’ve never fished an NFC Spey blank. Re: NFC Spey Build Guide selection

It hasn't been built yet. Too busy raising kids and working. I'll try to get it done this spring. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
