Yes, the AmTac G2 winding check’s OD fit perfectly. Because they are metal make sure you get the right ID to fit where you need it. If close, go with one a bit larger; they are very difficult to enlarge.

What method do you guys use to remove the foam from the soft touch grip to get the winding check to snap in? Re: winding checks for NFC soft touch

You don’t remove anything. The winding check ends of the soft touch-grips are hollow. The G2 winding check’s tenon fits into the grip. You just replace the EVA winding check with the G2 check. Very easy to do, just have to get the proper ID to fit the blank. Just did two soft touch casting grips today, they look and feel great.

The top however, has foam that is flush with the carbon fiber. Re: winding checks for NFC soft touch

I have not used the Soft touch fly rod grip, only the regular CF fly rod grips, which I like a lot.

Never had an NFC soft touch fly rod grip in my hands. So, I have no idea what would be needed to fit it with a winding check, or even if one is needed. In addition, a full wells would be different from a half wells.

David, I have the same issue but I’m able to smooth the EVA out with some 220 sandpaper. Lightly “buff” the foam until the imperfections disappear. Re: winding checks for NFC soft touch

You must cut the length of the grip down just a bit to match the OD of the winding check, and then just use a dremel or similiar took and remove some of the foam.
