I cast with it yesterday. It soared, what a rod! It handled everything no issues at all. In fact I was over casting (I fish from shore) so I had to thumb it down!!!
I can’t thank you guys enough! Edit: the reel is a calcutta 400b. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 06/10/2023 11:40AM by David Riesenbeck. Re: Help (part 2) THANK YOU GUYS

Now you know why many of us think they are so versatile, and they have been built in just about any appropriate fashion for multiple species. They have been built from 7 ft. to 9 ft. in length in one, two and 3 pieces. Re: Help (part 2) THANK YOU GUYS

There is a learning point here that has been missed so much over the last thirty or so years. It’s that moderate and moderate-fast rods with extra length have a real place in a bass, steelhead, salmon, and multiple species rod rack. They do so many things really well, besides casting to infinity and beyond. I nearly always have fast, high modulus rods with me. It’s funny how frequently that one of my backup oldies ends up being the right tool, though. An eight foot, moderate-fast rod is especially versatile. They can be under loaded and even well overloaded with a careful casting stroke. They will very well play and land a huge size range of fish. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
