Rod build recording form?

Been building 5 or 6 years. Attended the icrbe this year and it was excellent. Up to this point I’ve recorded the build info for components, blank, spacing, guide sizes etc in a notebook. Been looking online for a recording form or an order form to record everything for my builds with no luck. Not a big tech guy to create one. Anyone able to direct me to something like this or have a sample I’d be able to use?

I’d suggest perhaps using something like Google Sheets - make a “template” for what you want to record and create a copy of the spreadsheet for each new rod or create a new tab in the one sheet. You can embed pics in the spreadsheet if you wanted to for purposes of remembering wrap layouts or colors or such.

I have one that I created using Google Sheets. As Michael suggests, that’s probably about as easy as it’s going to get for you.

Thanks Michael and Daryl. I’ll also check out the Google Sheets. Our daughter is back visiting so she’d be able to help me out.

We've published several in the magazine over the years. You can likely find one on the photo page.

To unhide your email, go into the "control center" button and then use the edit email to make yours viewable.

Here's something else you can do - we covered this in the magazine as well, go buy a roll of cash register roll paper, 2-inch is fine. When you build a rod you lay out and tape down a section of the roll paper above or below the rod. Now use a marker to identify the length of each component part, guide placement, etc. Just simple lines on a length of paper. Write down the model number and/or customer's name and roll it up and store it. Now you have "template" for that rod so you can duplicate it without having to do any measurements.

Received the forms Phil. Thank you. I’ve got enough now to go by to create my own form - well enough for my wife and daughter to create one.
Cool idea with the cash register paper, Tom. Interested to try that out.
Thanks to everyone for the ideas and input. Jeff
