odd blank request

I'm looking for an ultra light blank for small stream trout spin fishing. Fellow has requested a 4'10" length. I've found a decent 5'5" blank but he thought that may be to long. I don't have any experience in this type fishing so I'm kind of lost on this one. He'll be pitching very small lightweight baits and lures.
Hoping someone can steer me in the right direction here. Re: odd blank request

For that type fishing, you want a soft tip glass or low number graphite rod for a number of reasons.
I am now going on 83 and am still crawling through briars to get to a spot whee there is a possible chance to lob a worm where a native (Brookie or Brown) might be. As your client knows, you are going to whack the tip against numerous hard things(branches, rocks, the ground, etc). If this does not occur you are not fishing a small brook but a small river. Batson has some 5-1 blanks in both R-6 and glass. Do your self a favor and call Carol at Utmost Enterprises. She is very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to Batson. Your customer will appreciate something usable and practicle as opposed to a stiff rod that is not going do what he expects or needs. He is going to fall, be it a hidden root or rock, etc but if he has the proper material in his rod he stands a chance. Re: odd blank request

Thank you Robert. That is the sort of information I was hoping for. I have found an Rx6 Rainshadow with a line rating of 1 to 4 lb. Since you do this sort of thing, you prefer glass over graphite? I'll give Utmost a call this morning. Re: odd blank request

Neil, best blank I've found is Batson Revelation REVS54UL-SB or in 2 piece REV54UL-2SB. Built 5 of them for fishing up here and no complaints. Re: odd blank request

American Tackle has an ultralight 5' Matrix blank that is rated for 1-4 lb test line and lures 1/32 to 1/8 ounces and has a moderate action. This is only 2" longer than the requested length, is a quality blank, and has a handsome carbon fiber twill reinforcement in the butt area. AT also has a 5' 3" Bushido blank with the same ratings but is a Fast action. Either one would be a great choice! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
