Which weight recoil single foot guide for 6wt fly rod?

I am building a 9' 6wt fly rod from a very light blank. I wish to use Recoil single foot fly rod guides. Should I use the RSF (lightweight) or RSFX (standard/heavy duty/salt) guide. I read on one site that you should use the RSF (lightweight) only for rods up to 4wt.
Thoughts or experiences? Re: Which weight recoil single foot guide for 6wt fly rod?

I personally use the lightweight guides up to 6wt and like them. I've never had problems with mine
I use my 7wt and above in Salt water and having the heavier guides on those makes me feel better (not sure if that's justified or placebo) Re: Which weight recoil single foot guide for 6wt fly rod?

I only use the RSFX. Personally I'd only use the RSF on a #0 or #1 blank.

Herb:
Thanks. I now see on their site that Recoil says sue the light weight for 0-4 weight rods. Do you find the Recoils to be noisy at all? Some say the hum a bit as the line zips through them. Re: Which weight recoil single foot guide for 6wt fly rod?

David,
Yes - recoils can be noisy at times. Single foot are less so. But only noisy when line is dirty and not cleaned/conditioned well or often enough. I notice some noise when lawncasting after line gets dirty. Herb Re: Which weight recoil single foot guide for 6wt fly rod?

5wt and up RSFX because the wire is already thin enough. I feel the light weight, thin wire guides will wear the larger fly line more. Maybe it is just paranoia. I use food grade silicone spray as fly line dressing and have not really noticed any strange sound. You may just need to clean your line if you hear something. I have been using REC double foot snake guides on most of my builds so I really don't have anything to compare it to other than ceramic guides. Edited 1 time(s).
