Dear All,
The Rodbuilding.org app should be available in the Android / Play store in the next 24 hours. (Give or take a few hours on Google's/Alphabet's approval times) Thank you very much for being patient - Best, Aleks Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

It has been touted as being a "phone friendly" version of this forum with all the features of this forum. I use my phone today, and at least following the posts can be done fairly well. The phone friendly Apple app went live quite a while ago, and comments from Apple users? Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

I have been accessing and using this forum from my Apple iPhone for ten years or maybe more. Never had an App and probably too old to even understand why you need an App to do it. If your phone will access this internet you can already do it. Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

The only reason I downloaded the app for my iPad was because I was having trouble uploading pics the other way. Being able to put pics directly into threads is a no Brainerd, other way is 2 steps away from from useless nowadays.
The iPad app needs dark mode. Als, because it doesn't indicate any new content its a pain to use and the day and time is always wrong for each thread which is even worse because idk if there's anything new and the last post doesn't tell me if there's a more recent post I have android phone so I'll check the android app out, I think there's a lot of potential for the apps, but the site is already much easier to navigate in my phone browser than ios app which is usually the other way around. I'm excited and curious to see what the android app is like. Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

Date: December 24, 2022 09:10AM My last post was 9:03 and the screen shot is from 9:04 - my post isn’t listed as last post and thread wasn’t bumped, and says last post was in May. And I forgot that even though it’s better to have pics in threads I have to try to upload like 10 times and refresh and jump through hoops to get it done. I’m hoping android app is better Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

Has anyone found the android app or the NFC carbon fiber reel seats? Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

I've been looking for the app on the Google Play Store everyday since the 24th and still nothing... I'm waiting for the reel seats as well. Also waiting for the soft touch sleeves for hidden thread hoods, which were supposed to come out back around summertime. Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

The App shows that it is available in the Google Play / App Store this Morning -
Looks like it took a little extra time to get through their review process, but it is live. Best, Aleks Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

AWESOME! I've been checking just about every day.
Quick question, what in app function does the microphone access - record audio permission use? Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

I like the fact I don't have to zoom in to read the forum while on my phone. Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

Ed,
Not sure - we don't use that function for anything on the backend, I'll check in on it, but there should be no harm if you don't allow access. Best, Aleks Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

Joe,
Try to "images only" toggle. Now that both of the apps are "live" I am going to make a push to have that updated with the latest Rod Builds from all over the world. Okay, I often disable permissions for functions I don't use so I was curious.
There is no way to quote people or copy and paste in the app. It's also very inconvenient that I can't see previous posts, only the first post in the thread, if I want to reference or address a person or comment specifically. Also it's crashed on me twice after extreme lag and a couple of "app not responding " notifications. Do you want this feedback in this thread or somewhere else? I'm happy to help in anyway I can. One thing I did notice while making the reply above with the phone app....
The bottom 1/3 of the submit button is covered by the menu bar at the bottom. and...not necessarily an issue with the phone app.... Pictures are only visible...when I got out (on the website). Re: Rodbuilding.org Android App to go live in 24hrs!

There is no way to quote people or copy/paste in the app -
Ed, the forum runs on 20+ year old technology that is obsolete (in simplistic terms, the platform that the forum is written in, no longer exists) The risk that I run is every time a post is made in the app, that gets cross posted to the forum is the breaking of the forum, so the changes have to be made incrementally. Here is what the app offers as of now (both iOS and Android): 1) You are able to login with the same forum credentials (yay!) 2) You are able to make a new post, or reply to a post, and in doing so that post will be available on the forum. 3) You are able to upload your photo from the photo album and it will post it to the forum 4) You can search by keyword, and the app will search the topics in the forum 5) You can select to have a picture view, that will take you to a thread and make comments there There are no other features available, until further releases, until I am able to assess the impact to the forum integrity, database, and a million of other things. Which includes copy/paste and quote, as its not just "copy and paste" but it copies other data from the app, that when posted to the forum (as it is written in a different language) does not cause it to render properly. Joe,
On the NFC seats, please look for them in January: with weather, holidays, vacations, sick days and end of year close/inventory and backorders, I am not adding any more SKUs at the moment due to overall capacity. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
