Little off topic but not too far off. Bit of wrapping porn I suppose?

Since I started wrapping, cylinders have a different aspect. I have a titanium pen that will use virtually any pen insert (uni ball jetstream is a favorite) that i always look at and thing about wrapping. I've even eyeballed my favorite screwdriver shanks haha. But i did exercise this borderline compulsion recently by building a smudgestick for a friend. It is for use in First Nations rituals / ceremony. The colors represent healing colors in FN culture.

Things i learned doing this. Losing track of the wrap number you're on when doing fades is irritating. It's hard to maintain a straight line along the blank during transitions in fades they always want to slowly spiral around the blank. Not properly packing wraps when doing areas of multiple trim bands will result in wavy trim bands. Freshly cured epoxy is fragile; I covered the fresh epoxy in painters tape because this was a bday present and there was a time crunch and I still had to assemble it all. I wanted to protect the epoxy but instead when I peeled off the tape it left behind a kind of fine pattern that made it look almost satin. it was a fun project that left me thinking harder about doing something with my pen.

You have rapping skills I could only dream of. I can wrap guides perfectly, and apply the epoxy just right. However, I don't have the wrapping magic that you have, Superb work on that smudging stick. great job.

Robert F.....thanks, it does not feel like magic. It feels like I'm lucky to pull off every single transition! I've taken so many pictures and zoomed in to count wraps because I lose track.

I'm happy to be able to do what I do and know that comparison is thief of joy but when I see what people do with thread in the manner of weaves and color combinations, well, awe is probably the best description of where it lands me. I'm going to try a weave some day...but not today haha
